Abstract Earth Project

Trevor was influenced by the Detroit and Chicago house sounds that were so vibrant in Portland in the mid to late 90's. After a couple of years of nodding his head to beat, spending the afternoons in Portland's StarBass Records and watching the likes of Kenny Larkin, Traxx, Mike Huckaby, Staci Pullen, Doc Martin and Mark Farina work the decks for hours; Trevor knew it was time to get some of own decks. Jen Woolfe began her DJ career in 2001, after realizing her favorite spot on the dance floor was 2 feet away from the DJ booth, watching the hands of every Deep and Tech House DJ that came to her hometown of Seattle. Soon after she picked up Deep Dish's Global Underground, she made the move to Progressive House, a genre that succumbs to her seductive style and intimate journeys.

Jen began to play for local clubs in early 2003. She also began promotions for events of her own, making a name for herself in both the club and party scene. In 2005, she teamed up with fellow musician Mel Sky to promote one of the most successful Afterhours monthlies Seattle has seen in recent years, the Leschi Lounge. At the same time, Jen returned to her Alt-Rock roots by fusing the dance and rock genres and tinting her style with elegant Electro.

Jen's versatility with genres allows her to play any time of night at any venue, so long as its House. Her desire to bring together diverse communities under one groove has helped her to be one of the most loved and devoted DJ's in the city. After watching the DJs battle in the movie Juice in 1992, he said to
himself, "I can do this." Sen¢e began working with local Portland
hip-hop artists in the mid-to-late 90's, and became more involved with the 'underground' movement. He soon bought himself a set of turntables and began to teach himself how to beat match and mix. By 1999, he attended his first 'rave' and grew to really love the family-oriented vibe that was associated with the scene. In 2000, he went into hiatus only to come back out two years later. With some much time on his hands, what better way to utilize that time than practice? It wasn't until the latter part of 2004 that Lance began to meet many promoters and DJs who were in love with music as he was. By 2005, Sen¢e began collaborating with local talents and even threw his first "party." Do not mistake this DJ as a one-style aficionado. A bit about the artist:

Perpetual Loop is Charles Massey who is based in Manchester (UK). Classically trained on both the cello and piano, he combines the smoothness of that genre with the harder edge of electronic music, creating his own organic style, embracing computer technology to create Balearic sounds, Tribal beats and Symphonic arrangements. Charles has been writing and producing music for the last fifteen years. In 1995 he set up a night in Liverpool, England, delivering slamming sets of house to progressive to trance music, occasionally taking to the decks himself.
In 1999 he moved down to London, where he concentrated on his own organic music that is relaxing to the mind and soul as well as evolving enough to take the listener on a journey. His atmospheric music blends very well with his other love of film; creating soundscapes that compliment visual images. In 2004, having previously worked on numerous media projects and independent films, Charles had his debut release as Perpetual Loop on Rumour Records’ “Gateway To The Sun”, along-side Michael Dog, Eat Static, Ganja Beats and Chris Organic.
In November of the same year Perpetual Loop released two tracks on Organic Records’ compilation Psymeditation (ORGCD008) which became an instant hit, and has recently had two further tracks released on the follow-up to that CD, Psymeditation 2 (ORGCHILL001). He also releases material under the name of Grebeau. “Universal Flow” is Perpetual Loop’s debut album, and has been much anticipated in the world of psychedelic/ambient/chill. We hope you enjoy it.

Artist Profiles

Perpetual Loop is Organic Record’s latest catch, Charles Massey is a classically trained pianist and cellist, and has developed a very unique style of ambient/world/dub trance especially for Organic. Perpetual Loop has released previously on Rumour Records, and Organics first Psymeditation. His debut album “Universal Flow” will be released next on Organic Chill later this year.

Noodream is the chilled project by Darren Evans, manager of Dragonfly Records in their heyday. The Noodreem project resulted in well received tracks on the Mana Medicine compilation (Liquid Sound Design 2001), and on Interchills “Arcana” released earlier this year. Working as an engineer in a South London studio, Darren has teamed up with some reknown Indian Musicians and raised his production skills many notches to provide Organic with this very special treat.

Organic Substance is Chris Organics chill moniker and you can rest assured you will hear more coming from him in the future. His first chill release “Tribal Faith” has been released on several comps, and here he uses his reknown recording skills to give us a deep, solid groove overlaid with lush dreamscape sounds, plus sweet melodies and guitars from collaborator Pale Moon Rising. Chris is a qualified and experienced mastering engineer, mastering all of Organic Records releases his own patented 32-bit, 3-dimensional sonic manipulation technique.

Slackbaba is the work of Brighton-based producer Jonathan Smith. A familiar name at parties in London and around the UK, his music is at the forefront of the new wave of British psychedelic artists. His skills of sound manipulation and organic instrumentation present a new take on psychedelic electronica, combining quality production and skillful musicianship with an ability to cross genres tastefully. Jonny's debut album 'and the beat goes om', will be released on Liquid Records in May '06.

Nagual Sound Experiment (NSE) is the dub project of Brighton based electronica and roots producer DJ Cameron Leonard-Schroff aka psybreaks pioneer Mood Deluxe. After spending five years working as a music technology teacher at LACS and ICM and as a freelance engineer and programmer within the Los Angeles music industry, Cameron returns to the UK to begin his career as a recording artist with Liquid Records. 2006 will see the release of both the debut Mood Deluxe and NSE. His Sound Design has been used in commercials, film and multimedia gaming including credits from Discovery Channel, SciFi Channel, Disney, Inside Cinema, Nike and numerous indie films. Cameron has also recently completed his first feature length film score to a soon to be unleashed hi energy Japanese manga/ anime.

Unconscious Collective is the outlet for the non-trance output of OOOD and have performed live at Liquid Connective parties and the Glade festival, where their set included live drums, guitar, keyboards and three vocalists. In addition to their collaborative studio tracks with Ramsay, Steve, Ryo and Colin all write solo music under the UC banner. 'A New Way of Thinking' is Colin's experiment into the alternative composition techniques offered by an early beta version of AudioMulch, a modular composition and sound design environment developed by the Australian Ross Bencina (http://www.audiomulch.com). It was then mixed in Cubase where extra parts were also added, including the haunting piano melody at the end, which was recorded in one take."

Lemon Tree are a proudly British band; Paul Bacon was once part of a punk outfit featured on the John Peel show, now teamed up with Little River's recording engineer/ flamenco guitarist Mark Kingsley as atmospheric chill band Lemon Tree. They have released previously on Chris Organic's compilations on both Rumour Music and the first Psymeditation, a track on there so legendary it has had them as one of the most requested live chill bands on the festival circuit, including Sonica in Italy.

Ganja Beats is the dub offshoot of one of chill-out music’s crowned Princes, producer/artist/musician Jake Stephenson, also once known as Shamanic Tribes on Acid, one of the original uk psychedelic trance bands, also as Alien Mutation, Crystal Moon and Dr Psychedelic. His debut album ‘Ganja Beats’ released last year is still steadily selling copies today! Jake was involved in the psychedelic scene from the mid/late 80's primarily in the psych rock band paperhouse who were well known for their electrifying gigs. Jake has released on many trance compilations and labels such as Kinetix, Waveform, and previously on Organics Psymeditation and the limited edition Tsunami Benefit CD.

Artist Profiles

Equisol is the Trance project of Steven Fava. A US based artist working out of Southwest Florida, Steven holds a solid presence on the PsyBooty artist roster. He has two previous releases on PsyBooty Records, and has also seen his music released as a member of D-Space (Soular Records).

M-Field is among the newest additions to the PsyBooty roster. The collaboration of Jay Indigom (Alpha Channel / Indigom, PsyBooty) & label DJ Rob-ot (Rob Watson), these boys are poised to take the world by storm with their deep, funky progressive psychedelic style. M-Field is currently in the studio putting the finishing touch on their full-length CD to be released on PsyBooty Records in 2006.

Behind Blue Eyes / Vacuum Stalkers: Behind Blue Eyes is the project of Rene Nielsen (Beat Bizarre), and DJ Banel (Iboga Records). Their self-titled debut, released on Iboga Records, was easily one of the best progressive psychedelic albums of 2005. PsyBooty is proud to present an unreleased remix of BBE's "Rumble In The Jungle" by Russia's Vacuum Stalkers who have been making quite a name for themselves lately in the progressive circle, in addition to releasing down-tempo creations under the name Koan.

Etienne has been writing music for almost 20 years. In that time, he has experimented his way through Metal, Punk, Crossover, and Industrial, eventually creating his own unique take on Psychedelic Trance, which incorporates the various musical genres that have defined him as a composer. He has been performing live throughout the Northwest, Bay Area, and Southern California regions of the US for the past 3 years. Etienne's track, "We Come In Peace" was recently released on Monomad Media's compilation, "San Trancisco," and he has written professionally for web movies and video game companies such as EA and Sierra/Vivendi Universal.

prophei has been writing, producing, engineering, and recording electronic music for over thirteen years. His work spans various vocal, experimental, and dance-floor styles throughout that period. His industrial dance project, annodalleb (with longtime collaborator cyrus rex) will release their single "dAATh" on N3 Records in early 2006. The single and includes a burning hot remix by Hallucinogen, currently being caned worldwide by Hallucinogen himself and any DJ with an ear remotely close to the floor!

ProSect is the project of Andrey Yakovlev hailing from Israel. While Andy's music is mainly categorized as Psy Trance, he seeks to break rules and be an innovator in an underground scene he sees as lacking originality. He has found recent success seeing releases as part of multiple projects (Sound Field, Sonify, ProSect) on a diversity of record labels including Baroque, Tribal Vision, Kagdila, Oxygen, and now PsyBooty.

Duca (aka ANAX) is Dusan Sekic, of Belgrade, Serbia. He released his first full-length album as ANAX on Kagdila Records in 2004. Since then he has concentrated on multiple projects including his progressive project, Duca. "Pozitiva" is a progressive monster, which is sure to be one of the standout tracks on this compilation. Its deep dreamy synth work and smooth pulsing rhythms will appeal to fans and DJs across many electronic music genres.

Sound Field is the collaboration of Andrey Yakovlev (ProSect, Sonify) and Liron Atia (The Poofs). This unique meeting of the minds spawns a unique take on morning trance. Lush atmospherics, melodic and harmonic work, live instruments, deep, grooving rhythms, and excellent production quality are all hallmarks of the Sound Field aesthetic. The duo has been released on Oxygen Records and will have more material released on Crotus Records in 2006.

New to 1derland and Oregon

Hi there!

Just joined up with the tribe and figured I'd introduce myself:

My name's Jeigh Baldwin and I just moved to Eugene about two months ago from Santa Barbara, California. I'm here with my girlfriend Thea who is getting her master's degree at the University of Oregon. I'm a DJ, spinning for about 8 years now, currently focusing mainly on progressive house and progressive trance, delving into psy (most of it also progressive, but also exploring the darker end of the spectrum). I've been throwing free underground events by the name "Word of Mouth" in the SB mountains for the past five years and in the last two years have worked my way further south into the underground desert scene of Los Angeles and the surrounding areas.

I've also dabbled in fire-performance, specifically poi, though I'm without tools of my own other than zuni (practice, flag-based) poi. I'm also a three year resident of Black Rock City (wasn't able to make it last year), where I've spun fire under the Man, for the burn itself, for two years.

Fire is more of a hobby, though, with DJing and large scale sound being my main passion.

I'm still trying to settle into Eugene. Unfortunately, I was unaware of the state of the job market in Oregon prior to the relocation, so I'm still looking for work after two months and am dead-ass broke, which has made getting out to meet new people nearly impossible, leaving me feeling a bit socially isolated. In the meantime...well...there's always Tribe. :)

hello all you lovely people!

i thought this would be a good place to post as i know how wonderful this community is! i have a really good friend from the bay area who has been living in japan for quite some time and is relocating to portland when he gets back. he thinks portland is fabulous and would like to try living there.

he's a yoga instructor, a very sweet, open minded guy. i spent my first night at burning man hanging out with him, doing his makeup and wandering around. it was an awesome introduction to bm hanging out with him.

anyways, he is looking to get in touch with people who would like to do some jam sessions with him and he also needs a couch to crash on for a night or two until he finds an apartment.

i wish i was there to help, but i'm living in the bay area now. but i will tell you this, anyone who helps or meets this man will feel very blessed to know him. he is truly an incredible man. even if you can't put him up for a night or two, if you are into making music, please get in touch with him to offer some advice or info on meeting places, etc.

My dear friends and dance community,

As many of you know, and for those of you that don’t, my mother has been battling a failing liver for the last couple of months. I have appreciated all of your energies and words of encouragement. They have brought me so much comfort and feelings of love and support.

I was gearing up to bring you the 1derland Unity Festival this next summer, as a way to say thank you to my community for three great summers of fun, friendships and great music and dancing.

Unfortunately, with my mothers failing health, there is just no way to plan for such a fantastic event, and to be there to support my mother and my family when they need me the most. I cannot tell you all how horrible I am feeling inside. Not only am I about to lose my mom, but I feel like I have let you all down too. For this, I am sorry and very sad…Please accept my sincerest apologies.

In the meantime, please show love and light in all that you do. Help your neighbor. If there is something you can do for your community, come forward and let your skills be used for the betterment of all. Create art. Make music. Make love. Love one another and let us be a force of positive energy that will spread out to the four corners of the Earth.

I will still try to make it out to a few events and will help out when I can, but for now, I just cannot give the commitment that will be needed to coordinate such an event as 1derland at this time. My family needs me and they must come first.

Sadness in my world...

Hi all. I haven't been posting as much as I usually do lately or returning many phone calls. For this I apoligize. My mom has been in the hospital. She was having problems with her liver and they did a biopsy. As she was awaiting the results, she developed shingles. If you have ever had them (I have), it is one of the most painful, centrally located, "want to die" feelings that you will ever have. She was already sick from the liver problem, and then has this on top of it. She has not been able to work, as the shingles are contagious until they scab over, plus she is jaundiced and feeling sick constantly.

The results of her test came back on Saturday. Not only is she going to need a liver transplant; they found a cancerous spot on her one of her ovaries.

They are going to do more test to confirm the cancer, but she still is going on a list to receive a replacement liver. This is a long list, with a long wait and unfortunately, because of her age, if there is a younger, healthier person that needs a liver, they will go with that person first. And because of the liver problem, she cannot do chemo. They are going to have her take an early disability retirement through Social Security.

She is not in good shape at all.

This is my MOM! The woman who raised me by herself on a waitress's wages, and gave me everything she could of herself to ensure I had a good start on life. I would not be the person that I developed into if it weren't for her! She has helped me over and over through the years and set a great example for me of what unconditional love is for me and my wife and children. Now, at a time where she should be enjoying her retirement and seeing the world, she has to worry about bills and now her very life.

It SUCKS and is NOT FAIR!

2005 Swaziland Fireburners FAQ

Here's the target burn schedule for the 2005 Swaziland Fireburners season:

*Friday August 5th (dark of the moon)
*Friday August 19th (full moon) Last burn before Burning Man.
*Saturday September 3rd (dark of the moon)
*Saturday September 17th (almost full moon)
*Saturday October 1st
*Saturday October 15th
*Saturday October 29th (Swazhain party)
*Saturday December 31st, (New Years Eve fire)
(All parties are BYOB and meat)

If there is ever a rain-out it will be posted on both sites.

*There's no cover on any dates so I don't need an event permit. I can't risk some huge fine though, I'm broke as it is. So bring your ID or you won't be admitted. The sheriffs have been a real pain in my ass, that's why I've had to build thousands of dollars in fences and gates this year. The fences also act as sound-dampeners so that's a big plus too.

*I have a wood-connection down the road. There's an old guy who will sell me a truck-bed full of big-assed stumps and logs and scrap for 20 bucks. The bigger the wood the funner the fire (see main pic of a friend climbing on a giant burning stump) Help with a truck is always appreciated. The guy lives only about half a mile from me.

*If you come it's a bring-your-own-meat-BBQ-potluck. I could also use another folding table if someone wants to float me one. I have one propane BBQ so stand in line or bring a hibachi.

*I have a couch on the deck, some park benches and a picknic table but you might want to bring a folding lawn-chair if you plan on staying late. Sitting by the fire is nice. The pit is 35 feet around.

*I have two new lasers on the way bringing my total to four. Those are projected on a gigantic 16 by 20 foot screen in my treeline. There is a big-screen animation projector on the deck as well.

*The lawn is nice and big and overnight camping is permitted. Those you you coming from Salem or Hood River or wherever will appreciate not having to drive long distances loaded in the dark. Not good. So bring your tent and a bag if you want. It's just another courtesy I provide. The lawn is nice and manicured. Take advantage of this while it's still warm-weather. I figure I can accomodate about 25 tents if you want to pitch one.

*I have a giant trampoline frame I'm going to make into a tent. If anyone has a parachute they want to donate or bring by that'd be cool. Otherwise the tent will have to wait until next month.

*Kids are always welcome. I you have one feel free to bring them. If they're over 12 or so figure something else out. Could cause me a hassle. This is a good night out for young parents with a lack-luster social-life. The burning ground is a fortress now, there's no way your kid could possibly get out.

*Half my house is blocked-off during parties. The open half has shower, toilet, fridge (I have two mini's as well) and laundry so this is a way of camping without really camping. I am on the edge of Forest Park though so you might want to bring some insect-repellant. Not alot of bugs here but it wouldn't hurt.

*There is a courtesy phone. There's no long distance service, but if you need to call someone, a phone is available.

*Fire-spinners are always welcome.

*The DJ booth is complete. Two tables, and the five-track Behringer mizer get the most use. If you want to spin my booth is open, if no one else does I'll be spinning and / or doing dance mixes on my synth engines.

*I always need some people to help check ID's at the steel foot-gate. Do a half an hour and then trade to someone else. I can only do so much by myself.

*Those of you coming on bikes can park right in front and your bike will be monitored on an infrared CCTV security system. Everyone else is catch as catch can. You'll be fine as long as you don't block any driveways or mailboxes in my little Burg. After that there is an inexhaustable ammount of parking on the highway by the tavern. On the weekends there is often a line of 20 or more cars out there and it's a no-tow-zone. That area is two blocks from the site, in fact you can see the laser screen from the highway if you lose your way.

*The site is 15 minutes from NW Portland.

DIRECTIONS:

The address is 16742 NW Wapato Avenue X BURLINGTON (97231). We're two blocks across the street and up the hill from the "Bottoms Up" tavern. 1.9 miles West of the Sauvie Island bridge, 1/4 mile East of the Highway 30 / Cornelius Pass Rd. Intersection. Turn on BURLINGTON, up 100 feet, right on Wapato AVENUE, second house on the right with the big silver fence that looks like a COMPOUND. There's a BONFIRE SIGN over the gate and an intercom overhead. For a map enter the address into mapquest.com

Phoenix Fest Roll Call

Sorry I haven't posted this earlier, but Cheryl and I both came home and contracted Strep throat….yuk. This is the first actual day that I have had enough energy to think past a couple of one-liner postings…K..here goes!

To all that came out and interacted with the fun that we call 1derland this last weekend at SOAK, I thank you! The turnout that we had was fantastic! What Great Participation! I'd like to throw out a couple of quick thank you'zes…

Jen and Erin! You both are so….1derful! Thanks for that great breakfast for our whole camp and the leftovers to share with other camps on Saturday morning. You both came and added so much to our camp with your warmth, cheerfulness and sexyness! Jen ~ It was nice to have a drag King among all of us Queens! =)

Mr. Jason Phillips! You pull off the "butch" look very nicely! Thank you man for taking the reins on this one when you knew how burnt out I was, and you just let me come and be me…well, a couple of the many personas that make up Cheshyre! You let me be able to remember what the fun was about and why we do what we do! I'm so glad the fam got to come with you on this one. We love your Emmy man! She is 1derland through and through…and tell her thanks again for waking up the passed out, freezing drag queen (me!) at our stage on Sunday morning and making sure I got to bed!

Kirk and Cheryl! Talk about two fun loving people. Mimosas, and Kaluah and coffee every morning was such a bonus! They have been a part of 1derland since it's inception last year at the Phoenix Festival. They donated their generator, tables, mushroom umbrellas, gas cans and extension cords, and their LOVE! And they didn't even get to come (due to it being on the 4th of July weekend and Kirk being a Fireman and all…)! This year, in addition to all the things just mentioned they brought their mirrored mannequin and set her spinning about 15 feet above the crowd! She lit up all of the surrounding trees and gave the finishing touches to our camp! Thank you so much you guys! We love you and are honored to call you our friends!

Bandit and Semblance! You really must of wanted to play because you both contributed your time and efforts to help make our camp 1derful! Thank you both for the fun and friendship! 1derCore unite! I look forward to the future working and playing with you both! Thank you, thank you, thank YOU!

It was so cool to see our parade of 50 or so people heading to the burn. We had drummers, people in drag, 1derland costumes, costumes in general, Rich's golf cart boat with Enrique chanting from within it and at the lead, Chris, with his flame thrower, adding to the surreal ness of the night. As we entered the area around the burn, Chris walked right up to the man and let him have the full-on flame!!!! It was so awesome to be a part of that. I'll never forget it as long as I live.

Imagine seeing that through the eyes of a 10 year old boy. That was our son Josh. He had the best time. He had a smile on his face all the way home! Talk about a place conductive to families! He can't wait to get back out there next summer for the next one…Kirsteen already promised to name it a non-liquid event! I think we jinxed ourselves by calling it SOAK! But it definitely lived up to it's name! =) And speaking of Kirsteen…thank you! To you and BenD for inviting us to able to help christen the land and come and be a part of your fantastic event! I look forward to working and playing with you in the future too!

There are many of you that I would like to personally thank, and many that I already have, but if I missed you, please know that you were appreciated and you are welcome anytime to share in our fun!

We also had a mission to show people what 1derland was about. Just in case you weren't there to see it….1derland is a co-op of talented people who have pooled together their many resources to make something fun and 1derful happen! I do believe our mission was accomplished! Since we returned home, many new, dependable faces have expressed their desire to join in the planning for next summers 1derland Festival. Meetings will be starting in the Fall…STAY TUNED!

To Senior Philips and all the people that threw SOAK this weekend... thanks thanks and thanks some more! I had a blast meeting all of you, playing some tunes, and watching the big dude burn. Special thanks to the folks by Cheshire's tent for the croissant breakfast, and to the people in the RV for busting out coffee & mimosas every single morning. Too bad about the torrential downpour last night, and my condolences go out to all those who woke up feeling rather pruny... but hey, it was called Soak! The least I can do for you guys is share some pictures for all your perusing enjoyment. Until next time...

I had a really great time at Soak and I wanted to thank you all for your kindness and smiles. I am a shy girl and stayed at my tent most of the time, but all of you that ventured down were very good people and I really enjoyed meeting a lot of you. Thanks for everything and I hope you all made it home safe. Good wet times. I hear I am not the only one that slept in a SOAKing wet tent. I laughed about it all later.

Generator- Check
Christmas- lights (We could probably use more)
Covering for the turntables- Check
Decorations- Have a good amount but we could use more. (signs are easy decor. Put quotes from Alice in Wonderland and stake them out all near our area)
Folding tables-4 (Please correct me if I am wrong. Two from Kirk and Cheryl and two from Jen)
I am bringing a camp stove but we could use one more.
Pots and pans for cooking- We need a few more.
Plastic totes for dishwashing- We could use like two of these.
Tea cups and tea pots- Please go to Goodwill tonight and pick some up. Please do not buy good stuff. The chance of this stuff getting broken is good.
Costumes- I would like to see everyone dressed up most of the weekend. This is not a little nice request it is something I really want to see.

Everyone please try to find a costume for the tea party. It will be mad and we want to see everyone get involved.

Also please bring teepee, there will be porta potties but sometimes the toilet paper magically disappears. Please don't go to the bathroom around camp. We will have dogs and children and do you really want them playing with your bodily fluids then with you?

Bring ash trays for yourself if you smoke. No butts on the ground. Come Sunday we will all comb the camp for trash to cleanup our space and do our part in making this a leave no trace event.

Damn that is alot of typing but one final thing....

Friday night I think we should let everyone kind of fend for them selves we will have people arriving at all times and a community meal will be tough.

Saturday morning- Jen and Erin (Possibly others) will be making breakfast.

Saturday night- Dinner is there an interest in doing a spaghetti dinner on Saturday night? I will buy the pasta can a few people grab some sauce?

Sunday morning- Breakfast another fend for yourself meal.

1derland theme night at Soak Attending Soak Look Here

So Cheshyre and I get to talking lastnight and an idea was formed. Saturday June 4th 5pm at Soak 1derland will be hosting a party. We want everyone camping with us to take part and get costumed up. The theme is drag. We want every man to dress as a woman and every woman to dress as a man. During this time we will be playing music from famous gender benders and also singers who sound like someone of the opposite sex. This will all lead up to a conga line around 10pm leading to the main event. We will be serving margaritas. So everyone also needs to get to the liquor store and pick up a bottle of tequila and a bottle of margarita mix. Please bring your own cups. If you know anyone going to Soak who is not camping with us let them know.

If you do not have womens/mens clothes to dress in I will personally take you to Goodwill. Makeup is not necessary but encouraged.

So yeah post your comments here.

1derland art project Everyone attending Soak needs to read this

So I was thinking about decor lastnight and I had a total epiphany, well okay not epiphany but more brain fart.

So everyone camping in 1derland here is your task. You will need

5 metal wire hangers.
Paper colored or non
tape

Each hanger should be cut broken whatever into 3 metal pieces about 12" each. With the paper and tape we are going to create flowers that will reside on the pieces of metal. Jenn has let us know she has black lights and my thought is aiming the blacklights at these flowers to make things a bit more fun.

Any questions let me know. I expect everyone to hand me 15 flowers when they arrive at 1derland. If you need hangers ask your neighbor, grandma, parents, or numerous other people. If you have children ask them to help.

1derland is our home for 3 days at Soak, let's make it a place we can all remember and treasure.

Okay so far I wanted a fresh slate to give some updates.

As of now. I know I will be on the site by 4pm on Friday. If you get there before me please do not stake your tent down or anything until we get the layout squared away.

Sound- We will be going minimal and running 2 15" cabinets as monitors and 2 15" cabinets as mains. It will be plenty sufficient.

Shelter- The organizers have helped us attain shelter for over the turntables.

Footprint. Our space will be right about 100' x 100' if you are not hauling gear expect to park and leave your car behind. We will at this point have no more than 2 vehicles and 1 camper in our space.

Decor- This weekend I will be going to home despot and picking up lengths of 2x4 and eye bolts. Through these bolts we will run rope over the area to be used for dancing. It is on these ropes where we will run our christmas lights. In the middle of the dancefloor we will have a table that will be covered in tea cups and teapots for our tea party. The table that will hold the turntables will hold one table lamp of some sort to illuminate the turntables.

If you have christmas lights we will need them no later than June 2nd. Also please take the time to head out to Goodwill and pick up tea cups and tea pots.

Camping- We have had some mention of community kitchen but it has not taken much hold. I know we have two tables but a third would be nice. I will bring out my camping stove and 1 more would be awesome. Please everyone bring trash bags. If you smoke bring portable ash trays. If anyone is seen throwing a butt on the ground you will be asked to pick up the butt and remove yourself and the butt from the 1derland area. Why so strict? Because we are all big kids and we should know better than littering and expecting other people to clean up after us. I also expect everyone to think about what you bring in the way of food, dishes, and anything else that creates trash. We want to haul out as little trash as possible and to leave no trace.

Children- Wanted to let you all know children are welcome at 1derland. With this in mind try to mind your language a little bit. When you are screaming and calling someone across the field a childish fuck please expect to hear that out of the mouth of any child around you.

Dogs- are allowed but need a ticket and must be registered. Check http://www.burningmanportland.com for more info.

Djs- I have received message from people lately wanting to spin at 1derland but do not want to contribute in any other way. To them I say "Up yours!". If you are camping with 1derland and want to dj please get in touch. Now is the time. I will be talking to some of the people involved with the event and maybe taking some overflow djs from the main sound area. Our stage will have many diverse sounds and will be a great spot to get your groove on.

Food- If we do a community kitchen we will only be doing group dinners. So please plan for breakfast and lunch. Think foods that require little to no prep. Remove excess packaging from items you are bringing.

Beverages- If you are planning on drinking please remember if you make an ass of yourself we won't offer you a shoulder to cry on but instead photographic proof to follow you for many years. Please do not leave cans and bottles anywhere. A backpack will be your best friend because you can carry and store full or empty beverages.

Large table x2
Painters cloths quantity will be determined by size. Also these will get painted on so please be willing to donate them or not care if they are covered in paint.
Christmas lights. Lots of them.
Artists who can do scenes from Alice in Wonderland.
If I remember right Kirk and Cheryl have a generator but I would like 1 additional one to keep lights and sound off of the same circuit.
We will also need gas cans.

So please add if you can think of things and soon we will have the basic sketches up of the camp.

1derland at Phoenix Fest

So I would like to start a space to talk about 1derland making a repeat appearance at Phoenix Fest. Please do not use this space to offer your dj services. There are 20 million djs in the area and until all other details are secured I would love to avoid telling anyone they are playing. If you dispute this please send me a message.

At this point I am going to be building a large shade space to take with me to festivals this summer and will be happy to contribute it to the cause. We will need people to work on decorations and we should organize at least 4 or 5 days of prop building. This year it would be nice to have a communal kitchen so if anyone would like to step up to this that would be wonderful. We need to organize lighting so if anyone would like to step up, speak now. I think we need to have a head count of who will be camping with us and what they plan to contribute no later than the end of May. Last year was wonderful but with plenty of room to improve.

Soon I will be meeting with Chesyre (He doesn't know this yet) and if anyone is interested in participating you need to make the commitment to make it to every meeting.

Unity Festival Cancelled...

After much consideration and discussion, we are sad to say that there will not be a 1derland Unity Festival this summer. With such a lack of participation, when this was supposed to be a festival created by the community, for the community, we feel that the timing is wrong.

We had a lot of excellent verbal responses from people saying they would have liked to be involved. When it came time for meetings, 3 or 4 people would show up. We asked people to go to the 1derland tribe and post ideas and ways that they might fit in. A few people have posted, but for the most part, they are djs wondering if they can spin. We told everyone right from the start that if there was not enough participation, it could not happen.

I truly could see a fantastic weekend. The space we had reserved was incredible. I envisioned our entire community coming together to create a weekend of music, art and dance and getting to know others outside of their genre.

For those of you who did give your time, I truly thank you for your belief, but I will not put the work of an entire festival on just a few people. That is another form of madness…

If I’ve talked to you about participating in the 1derland Unity Festival this next summer, or you feel you have something to contribute to the event, there will be a planning meeting on Thursday, March 3rd, at 7pm at the Viper Room (7th & Hawthorne) before Community Nights.

Whether it is to contribute art, music, vending, flyer distribution, organizational skills, or just a body to help set up or sit at a gate…..whatever you can do to help, come and join us in this important meeting!

GET READY NORTHWEST! NEXT SUMMER, 2005 WILL MANIFEST THE FIRST ANNUAL 1DERLAND UNITY FESTIVAL!!!!

The time has come for all of the tribes of the West Coast to Unite!

Instead of internal strife about who is throwing what event on the same day, my dream is to get all of the tribes to join together at the same time, at the same place.

The FIRE/Let’s Have Fun Event last weekend, was just a taste of what can happen when tribes come together to make something magical happen. It is going to take a lot of work and we are going to need people to step up and volunteer time during the year for benefit shows and fundraisers to make this event one that will be talked about for years to come.

Did you HOWL?

Oh words can not describe how wonderful this night was for me. So many familiar faces and of course grooving tunes. The directions were amazing and everywhere I ventured there were happy faces and people having a good time. I must say that is show went well above my expectations and the line of people wow what support. It just proved to me that old places can be revitalized for a welcoming occasion. I hope that everyone had a blast and I'd like to give a huge applause for The City Repair people - Eric you are such a little wonder. Can anyone say when's the next event and please remember that all the work and volunteers put in alot of time to make this event happen. I was happy to do my part for working the door at the beginning.
